Welcome to our self catering holiday home on the Isle of Wight in beautiful Ventnor. Completely refurbished in 2008, our beautiful Victorian semi-detached holiday home with fantastic panoramic sea views, is suitable for wheelchair users and or assisted persons with disabilities. Can sleep up to 8 people. As we only brought this property in March 2008, much of our time has been spent on the renovation works, but our next aim is to apply to the English Tourist Board for a grading and also for a mobility grading. All the ground floor area is wheelchair accessible.

Our home is created with wheelchair users specifically in mind. We have first hand experience of the difficulties involved with finding suitable accommodation for all your family when one of you has a disability of some kind. We have found it particularly difficult to find a holiday home which has a ceiling hoist which our family requires. Like our family we hope that all our guests will be able to enjoy a quiet, relaxed home from home holiday to which they will want to return year after year.

Facilities

The accommodation comprises of a large spacious open plan living/dining and kitchen area. Access from the side of this room leads to a patio area with panoramic sea views with a small table and chairs. All areas have central heating, with a gas fire to the lounge area. Living accommodation is on two levels and comprising of the following:-

1 king-size bed with panoramic sea views

Twin beds which can be pushed together to make a double with side sea views

Single bedroom with sea views will be replaced with twin bedroom with rear garden view, at a later stage.

1 bathroom to the first floor with toilet, hand basin, bath and shower, grab rails (we are hoping to create a second bathroom later this year to the first floor)

Freeview Sat TV can be found in the lounge and disabled access room.

Ground Floor - Twin single beds (1 of which is electric with head/foot raiser and height adjustable) with wet room off. This room offers views to the rear courtyard garden area. There is a ceiling hoist installed above the electric bed but not within the wet room. The wet room incorporates a sink, toilet with left or right transfer, wet area for showering, grab rails and Altro flooring. PLEASE NOTE YOU WILL NEED TO BRING YOUR OWN SLING TO USE THE CEILING HOIST.

The lounge has a remote controlled TV, 2 settees and armchair and a rise/recline chair. The dining area has a dining table which seat between 6 -8 people.

Entrance to the house is either by wheelchair 1 person lift from car-park area to patio level, only about 6 feet, then there is level access to the property alternatively for the more mobile there are steps to the side of the garden.
Kitchen has cooker, sink, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave oven, fridge with small freezer compartment. The whole of the ground floor area has the same continuous wood flooring to enable ease of use for wheelchair users.

In addition to the small patio area to the front with panoramic sea views there is a much larger garden area with patio to the rear, with slight sea views, please note there is no grassed area to this property.

All rooms are bright and airy, there is fresh linen provided weekly and on new arrival, however an extra change can be arranged for a small fee, please ask for quote. 1 bath and 1 hand towel per person is provided and a small welcome pack to help you settle in. All bedrooms have tv, alarm clock, touch lamps.

Extras:- Shower/commode chair with lockable wheels, sound/baby monitors x 1 set, stair gates a portable hearing loop, and It may be possible to hire any additional items you may require from one of the islands mobility shops. Travel Cot and high chair. If you would prefer to hire a mobile hoist we can put you in touch with the local hire company to arrange for this.
